Delex Systems is seeking an Advanced Data Link Systems Engineer for a new task that we are anticipating at Patuxent River, MD.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

You will: 

  • Support the development of network management and implementation; message standards; operational procedures: and system interface definition and control throughout the development and integration of advanced capabilities employing Link 16 (Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS)/Tactical Digital Information Link-J Series Messages (TADIL J)).
  • Support the development of data link concept of employment; determination of information exchange requirements supporting joint missions and tasks; and the identification of messages and data elements necessary for effective and interoperable force employment.
  • Assess tactical data link and communication systems (including Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS)/JTRS, Tactical Targeting Network Technology [TTNT]) performance in electronic attack (EA) and electronic protect (EP) environments. In addition, provides network design information and data link concepts meeting the technical and operational requirements of Naval Integrated Fire Control-Counter Air (NIF-CA) from the air (FTA).
  • Provide definition and documentation supporting the interface change proposal (ICP) for Integrated Fire Control (IFC) as well as follow-on improvements. 
  • Analyze and evaluate Integration of Embedded OPS/INS (EGI) system in order to improve accuracy of platform position and sensor track reports.
  • Perform analyses of operational doctrine, and develop technology concepts and connectivity techniques to enhance operational capabilities. 
  • Provide network design and platform load files used in IFC development activities. Provide real time evaluation of advanced capabilities during flight tests.
  • Support the design and development of system of systems (SoS) performance evaluation tools. 
  • Provide technical support for MIDS/JTRS integration efforts, concurrent multi-netting (CMN4) and TTNT integration, Link 16 network design, TADIL Jmessages standard development and Link 16 data registration.
  • Participate in Link 16 Communications Security (COMSEC) Working Group. 

Significant (~50%) travel is required for this position. 

Education and Experience Requirements


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, mathematics or related field from an accredited college or university.  Experience cannot be substituted for education.



Candidate must have 10 or more years of software engineering or software systems engineering experience.


Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Candidate should be proficient in all Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
  • Candidate should have demonstrated good oral and written communication skills.
  •  Candidate should have experience working in a dynamic schedule constrained and complex security environment.

Must have a current TS/SCI clearance.

Security Clearance

  • This position will require U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance.
